Florida Wildfires Thought to be Suspicious
24 January 2012
Recent wildfires in Washington County, Florida could have been caused by arsonists, due to timings and locations.
The Florida Forest Service, Washington County Fire Department and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are working together to determine the cause of several “suspicious” wildfires over the past few months in the Sunny Hills area of Southeast Washington County.
Due to the locations and times of discovery, as well as other characteristics of the recent string of random blazes, it is suspected that they are the work of arsonists. So far, quick response times from firefighters have ensured that the fires have not threatened any nearby homes.
